| 1. understand the game, and the 'rules' of when to hit/split/etc. 2. ask if you can surrender... it's an unwritten rule at many casinos, that you can surrender half your bet, if it's looking bad. 3. find the $25.oo minimum table with no players. i always do well when it's just me and the dealer. more players = greater odds for the dealer. This is why casinos never open a table, unless people are waiting to get on other tables. but they always have a dealer for the higher minumum bet tables. (but they always have high minimum bet tables open, even if there is only 1 player). 4. play with the casinos money. if you win, take your winnings and your original bet, and play that. (doubling your first bet). if you win again, take your original investment, and bet the rest... you are now playing with the casinos money. this is the only way i have done well. 5. prepare to loose. it does happen. 6. card counting wont improve your odds appreciably. it's less the 1% from some stats i've read on a 6 deck shoe (most common).
